It's April 2006 No Island Games to distract us (me included - apologies of lack of updates to website last year!) so no excuses this summer!
The new yoal Fridarey was tested out last year, with mixed feeling and opinions. Let's see how we get on with her this year.
To kick off this year, we're going to be having a pre-season event down on the beach at St Ninians on Saturday 13th of May.
Both yoals will be there for teams to practice in, and for potential team members to try out.
We'll be having a fun day, with soup and sandwiches, homebakes, tea, coffee, etc available at the Bigton Hall afterwards. We're also
hoping to have some musical entertainment! Keep a look out for ads in the local press, and spread the word!
Volunteers will be required to help out on the day. Please get in touch with Kirsten (693118) if you want to be involved. All committee members,
and anyone else interested, should also come along to the Bigton Hall on Monday 1st May at 8pm.
It's hoped that there will be a good Club turnout at all regattas, and at post-regatta events. Contact Magnie (460873) or Kirsten if you are interested in organising transport to and from regattas.
Membership fees remain as before, ie. £15/adult, £5/under 18 and £30 for a family. Please contact Kirsten for a membership form if you don't have one.
Past members are reminded that some 2005 memberships are still due. We know who you are! Please pay last year's sub along with this year's!
Club t-shirts
are also available from Kristen and priced at £11.99. Sizes available are Med (38/40" chest), Large (42/44) and X-Large (46/48).
The regatta dates for the new season are as follows:
Saturday 27th May - Collafirth
Saturday 3rd June - Burra
Saturday 10th June - Whiteness & weisdale
Saturday 17th June - Round Trondra Race
Sunday 25th June - Lerwick
Friday 30th June - Vidlin
Wednesday 5th July - Brae to Aith
Friday 7th July - Aith
Saturday 29th July - Unst (Championships)
The Prizegiving Ceremony to be confirmed.
Looking forward to catching up with you all again!
Nicola
Proposed Ireland Slipway
The Club was approached by the Dunrossness Community Council to see if we would be interested in the development of a slip at Ireland. The committee would like to hear from Bigton Rowing Club members as to their views on this - do you feel this project is something the club should take on? A meeting of the Club will be arranged to discuss the proposals. Please contact Kristen if you want to be involved.
Practice times have been allocated. Click here for details.
