After being cancelled on the Wednesday due to high winds, the 7-mile Brae to Aith race was rescheduled for Sunday afternoon. Six boats took part,
4 yoals, Aith's 10-man Faroese boat Svaldbakker crewed by Bigton, and Aith's streamlined go-faster model, da Rippek.
Svaldbakker was given a 2 minute head start but this wasn't needed, wir valiant Bigton crew steaming her hom nearly 4 minutes ahead of the nearest opposition.
Well done guys ... Go Bigton!
Final results were as follows:
Svaldbakker (Bigton) - 1hr 11min and 2sec
Aith (1st placed yoal) - 1hr 14min and 57 sec
Rippek (Aith) - 1hr 15min and 9sec
Nesting (2nd) - 1hr 16min and 2sec
Lerwick (3rd) - 1hr 16min and 24sec
Vidlin (4th) - 1hr 19min and 23sec
Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to Aith for hosting the event, the prizes which were awarded to all-comers, and,
especially, for the hot pies in the hall afterwards. Yum!
Finally, if anyone has a photo of Ian Davidge in his very lovely blonde wig and summer dress ... I would love to put it on the website!
