Author's Note: In the far and distant past when we had 10 or 12 regattas a year, the final league positions were decided according to the best 8 results of the season. As the number of regattas fell, the placings were calculated by each group dropping its worst score before the final summing up. This allowed for the inevitable blips of 'no team due to school holidays', etc. Somewhere along the line it was decided that only the top 4 scores would be counted. This is a very small number and I believe is an unfair representation of the effort and enthusiasm that the rowers, and our youngest rowers in particular, put in. I feel that this low number does nothing to encourage attendance at regattas. I feel particularly vexed for our own under 16 boys who have lost out on first place, well deserved after attending every regatta. For the Lerwick under 16 boys who have been put out of the prizes, dropping from third to fourth place. And for Burra, which has dropped from second place to third in the overall club placings.
